Tony Montana - Tombstone Revival

April 7, 2002

It's been a while since you've left Great White. What have you been up to since you left?

I have a family, two boys and a wife. These things keep me very busy. I've been recording and writing my own material, producing and playing on other folks stuff, and recently been producing commercial music as well. I just did a piece for Case Logic that was alot of fun!

How do you feel about Great White disbanding?

I'm a little skeptical about it. I imagine that Jack won't leave that brand name lying around for long.

What caused you to leave Great White?

I think my leaving the band has been pretty well documented. I was tired of the musical direction basically, and I wanted to write and produce more and it wasn't gonna happen in that environment, so they asked me to leave, and I didn't resist the change. It was a good time for all of us to move on.

Have you and Audie been working on any music together?

Audie and I still play shows occasionally, and have collaborated on a single for Europe as well. I love the guy, and I hope we will always do something musical together regardless of where we both end up.

Do you have a new CD coming out and can you tell us a little about it?

I am working hard on the new tracks. I'm very excited about the songs. I've matured as a writer, and I think this batch of tunes will have a much larger impact than the last CD. I love the last CD, but this batch of tunes is much more accessible to all different kinds of listeners.

Can you tell us a little about Tombstone Revival?

I decided to put together a touring band to present the songs off of the CD. The fact that Audie had just left GW was an absolute blessing for me. I called him as soon as I heard and said, "it's time to jam dude!" and that was it. We've had a few members in and out, but Audie and I have been the constants. I do not think I'll be doing many more shows with the Revival, it's served its purpose. The next touring band will be much different.

Are you planning any new shows?

Just did a radio promo show in Florida yesterday, it was fun! We may do a show in San Bernadino CA, on May 11, no confirmations yet.

What kind of gear do you endorse and why?

I do not endorse anything anymore. I build my own guitars, and my amp situation changes alot. I do however want to hook up with a recording software company in the near future. I'm a computer geek at heart, and my home computer studio is my life blood right now.

What kind of future plans do you have?

Just gonna work on new tunes and try to get a world wide release this time, specifically the US. It's time, I deserve a chance at this market, and the material is right. So we will see...

Any other comments or ideas?

Just that I really enjoy the contact with friends I get through my website, www.tony-montana.com. Everyone is great, and so supportive, it keeps me pushing forward to get another CD out. Thanks to you and everyone that keeps tabs on what I'm up to. Have a kick ass 2002! Cheers.
